The Boise Senior Center is a meeting place where seniors can participate in
activities, classes, and services. A noon meal is served daily. The center also
offers many volunteer opportunities.
The center features the Craft Boutique, where locally hand-crafted items are for
sale, and Grandma's Treasures Thrift Store. Donations of slightly used items for
the thrift store are always welcome! Proceeds from the thrift store help provide
programs and services for seniors.
Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and some evenings
and weekends. We are closed on major holidays.
The Boise Senior Center also offers room rental to public and private groups.
In July of 1977, through the work of the Boise City Council, mayor, and a citizens committee,
the Boise Senior Center was planned. Financing to build the Center was obtained through a
Community Development Block Grant.
In May, 1979, the Boise Senior Center building was completed, and the Boise Council on
Aging (which later became Senior Solutions) moved into the new building. Funding from
various sources was obtained to operate the Center, including from Boise City. The city
continues to own the building and property where the center is located. Currently, funding
sources for the center include the City of Boise, donations, room rental income, and revenues
from Bingo and the Thrift Store.
Over the years, the Boise Council on Aging initiated many programs for senior citizens and
eventually became Senior Solutions. Senior Solutions continues to provide services for
senior citizens, and continues to contract with the City of Boise to manage the Boise Senior
